This resulted in destruction of the empire. The lesson learned for present- day Mongolia: stay close to your neighbours, but do this in different issue areas: spread the dependencies. At the same time: employ a consistent and professional diplomacy in order to deal with the Near Abroad, as well as with the Far Abroad: the world at large.
